2.25"D Petrified Peanut Wood
Sphere Fossil Ball - Carnarvon, Western Australia,
spw4
|
- This is a
great example of "peanut" wood.
- Dale made
this exquisite petrified peanut wood sphere. The workmanship, the
quality of the material, and the polish are all outstanding! Peanut
wood at this quality is getting very scarce.
- The wood was
most likely a conifer and the "peanuts" used to be holes left
behind by burrowing teredo mollusks. The holes were eventually
filled with matter which was replaced by agate when the rest of the
wood mineralized. The "peanuts" are cream color in mostly very dark
background.
- This
petrified peanut wood sphere is a real beauty and an outstanding
collectors' item.
- Petrified
wood, among other properties, is said
to help one get
rid of all small and unimportant things that add annoyance and
worries to one's life.
- Approximate
size: 2.25 inches or 56 mm
