• Dale, the spheremaker, made this wonderful Tiffany Stone (Bertrandite) sphere and he did an outstanding job.
• The material is of the best quality, has a very desirable deep purple color as well as other shades of purple and some white.
• This bertrandite sphere is fluorescent (neon green), very smooth and it has a beautiful polish.
• Bertrandite consists of various mineral like opalite, fluorite, manganese (which forms dendrites), as well as very small amounts of beryllium. It is commercially mined primarily for its berullium content but some makes it to the minerals market for us to enjoy. One word ofcaution though: dust from elemental beryllium is toxic and a known carcinogen. Lucky for us mineral collectors, and according to my research, beryllium occurs in nature only chemically combined with minerals and its mostly known forms are emerald (beryl) and bertrandite. Although the material of this sphere is considered non toxic, please treat it with respect and do not lick it or make tea from it...
• This tiffany stone sphere is absolutely gorgeous and a rare collector's item.
• Its approximate weight is 1.25 lbs, and it has about 3" diameter (76 mm).
