Native Silver Sphere Rare Metal Ball - Ontario, spr37
|
- If you are looking
for rare spheres to add to your collection, here's a very rare one.
It is native silver in matrix from the famous silver mines in
Cobalt, Ontario.
- Silver is not rare
but from this locale it is. This is because, I understand, all
silver was mined in the early 1900's. The pinkish matrix, which is
full of silver specs, I was told is dolomite. Under the black light
the matrix is not fluorescent but it has pockets of red which is
most likely calcite (dolomite and calcite are very
similar).
- The spheremaker,
Dale, made this wonderful native silver sphere and he did an
excellent job. The sphere has a geat polish (check the photos taken
in the shade).
- This native silver in matrix sphere, is very
rare and a great collector's item.
- The approximate
weight of this silver and dolomite ball is 8 oz , and it measures
about 1.96" in diameter (50mm).
- Please note
that there are many more photos of this sphere following the
description. The photos were taken outdoors in sunlight and from
different angles and therefore, color differences from the actual
sphere are possible.
