2.6"D Native Silver Sphere
Rare Metal Ball - Ontario, spr53
|
- If you are looking for rare
spheres to add to your collection, here's a very rare one. It is
native silver in matrix from the famous silver mines in Cobalt,
Ontario.
- This native silver sphere
is absolutely gorgeous! The silver has some outstanding dendritic
patterns and the matrix very gemmy and
chatoyant.
- The sphere is also large
and very heavy.
- Silver is not rare but from
this locale it is. This is because, I understand, all silver from
this location was mined in the early 1900's. The matrix is the most
chatoyant dolomite I have ever seen. There may also be some
cobaltite since in the same general area where this silver was
mined, cobaltite was mined as well.
- The spheremaker, Dale, made
this wonderful native silver sphere and he did an outstanding job.
The sphere has a geat polish (check the photos taken in the
shade).
- This native silver in
matrix sphere, is very rare and a great collector's
item.
- The approximate weight of
this silver and dolomite ball is 2 lb 4 oz , and it measures about
2.67" in diameter (68 mm).
- Please note
that there are many more photos of this sphere following the
description. The photos were taken outdoors in sunlight and from
different angles and therefore, color differences from the actual
sphere are possible. In order to show the dendritic patterns of
silver, many photos were taken in my shadow.
