• Dale, the SphereMaker, made it from this exquisite stone called Mookaite that comes from the Kennedy Ranges near Gascoyne Junction in Australia.
• Mookaite can vary in quality depending of the amount of silica it contains and it can be a chert, chalcedony (jasper, agate), opal, and combinations of them along with pockets of a powdery material. Mookaite is also very brittle. Therefore, finding a mookaite stone relative uniform in quality to be able to make a large sphere like this one is a challenge.
• This one is a beautiful and colorful jasper (purples, gold, yellow, cream) with artistic patterns. The polish is outstanding. There are surface imperfections due to pockets of softer material always present in mookaite and which had to be treated by the SphereMaker.
