2.5"D Dioptase
Sphere Rare Emerald Green Crystal Ball -
sr47

|
Description:
- This is the only dioptase
sphere I have ever seen and it is a real beauty. There is a lot of
dioptase of outstanding dark emerald green color in a matrix of
shattuckite, chrysocolla, cuprite and other minerals.
- The
sphere was made in So. Africa and the material comes from the
Democratic Republic of Congo.
- The
sphere has an uneven but pleasant feel to it. This is because of
the different hardnesses of the various (mostly copper) minerals in
the matrix. Dioptase is a rather soft material (hardness of about
5) but harder than the other minerals in the matrix. For the same
reason, the sphere did not take a very good polish.
- This Dioptase sphere is
rare and an outstanding collector's item.
- Approximate weight: 12
oz.
- Approximate size: 2.5"
diameter (64 mm).

It is native silver in matrix from the famous silver mines in

well.

outstanding job. The sphere has a geat polish (check the photos
taken in the shade).

and best of all it is very fluorescent. Under the black light the

2.2"D
Cobalto Calcite Sphere Rare Pink Gemstone Ball - Congo
sr24 SOLD

|
Description:
- Dale always experiments making spheres from any
mineral that falls in his hands and it is large enough to work
with. Cobalto calcite is one of them. One usually finds cobalto
calcite crystals in a very thin layer on top or a rock matrix but
this one is all cobalto calcite
- Many previous trials with cobalto did not work
very well. The point in making a cobalto calcite sphere is to
somehow retain the crystals since their massive form is pretty but
not as impressive.
- Well, this time it worked; VOILA!
- The workmanship of the sphere is outstanding and
the color of the cystals, nested in a couple of geode-like vugs, is
just beautiful.
- This cobalto calcite sphere is a rare and
