Mexico but I think this gem serpentine is out of this
world!
- The color of this gem serpentine sphere is
"heavenly" sea green in a couple of shades.
- The material is translucent to transparent and
it has incredible opalescence moving outwards from the center of
the sphere and chatoyancy resulting from the chrysotile fibers
included in the serpentine (chrysotile is asbestos but as long as
the sphere is treated as a decorative and/or collection item is
absolutley safe).

- Here's a cute turquoise
sphere with a beautiful color and very attractive polka dot
pattern. It is real turquoise; not dyed howlite or reconstituted
turquoise and it comes from the old #8 turquoise mine in
Nevada.
- Dale, the spheremaker, made
this turquoise sphere and he did a great job. The turquoise part of
the sphere has a nice polish but the matrix (tan) did not polish
and it feels slightly rough.
- This turquoise sphere is a nice collector's item or it
will make an elegant gift.
- In
my reference
book, there are almost two

and it is part of a stalactite. The metal visible in the photos is
most likely psilomelane and it too has very nice
patterns.

excellent. There are minor surface imperfections to be expected in
a stalactitic piece, mixed with another mineral (metal) and having
such a convoluted pattern.
